Meet the Committee & Team

Artistic Director

Emily Travis

Emily commenced in April 2024 and manages the day-to-day operations of the OAC, focusing on expanding our arts program and improving the financial sustainability of the OAC.

 

She brings with her a strong work background in project management, and volunteer experience across the arts and East Gippsland community groups.

​​​

The Artistic Director role is funded for the first 12 months by East Gippsland Shire Council. Emily works 10 hrs/week across two days.

Admin Support Officer

Kate Rutherford

Kate has a strong background in the not for profit and community space. She brings significant experience in organisational administration to the OEC.

​

Kate oversees daily operations, as well as using her background in catering for our events. Her focus is on ensuring the OEC is running smoothly, sustainably and fulfilling it's potential.

​

Kate has strong organisational knowledge having also spent 1.5 years on the committee as Secretary and Vice Chair. Kate works 10hrs/week across two days.

Chair

Ruth Hanson

Ruth has been a supporter of the OAC since its inception, and played a key role in the creation and construction of the Orbost Exhibition Centre in the early 2000's.

​

A passionate woodworker and musician, Ruth strongly believes in the OAC's mission to preserve and promote wood art and provide arts experiences to the Orbost region community.

​

Ruth was elected Chair in November 2024

Vice Chair

John Carmichael

​John is a woodworker and has been a volunteer at OAC for over 2 years. He was elected Vice Chair in November 2024.

Yuna Rickard

Yuna is a mixed media artist who has been a volunteer with OAC since 2023 and was elected Secretary in November 2024.

Tom is a woodworker and volunteer at OAC.​

He supports the OEC to be open, consistent and presentable.

​Tom was elected to the committee in November 2024.

Each year there a number of general vacancies as determined by the outgoing committee prior to the AGM. Usually the committee is 6-8 people.
